For some time now, it was believed that Yaya Toure was on the verge of ending his international career and just focus on winning titles with Manchester City.
Yaya Toure along with Sergio Aguero are a few of the key players of the Premier League club and the English league is as competitive as it has ever been but despite this, Toure is eager on making a return to his national side after being absent for more than 9 months.
Manchester City’s Yaya Toure revealed information as to why he was considering retiring from the international scene as well as to why he has taken such a long break from playing alongside his national teammates and the Ivorian midfielder said: “I think I will be back with the national team. I will be back now, and I’m delighted. “I was talking to the guys and told them I was thinking of having a break because years ago, I played so many games and I felt it in my leg.
I was playing games with the national team, in the Premier League as well, in the FA Cup, the World Cup, the Africa Cup of Nations there were so many games.
There are certain players that are able to perform at an incredibly high level with their club but fall apart when they enter the international stage; this however, isn’t the case of Yaya Toure who has consistently been able to play superbly with Manchester City and the Ivorian national team and his importance in the national team is clear as Toure is the captain of the squad and has consistently been performing internationally since 2004.
The return of Yaya Toure to the Ivorian national side is a huge boost for the team which is being managed by Michel Dussuyer as Ivory Coast will need all the help they can get in order to protect their Africa Cup of Nations silverware.
