Yaya Toure might become another Ivory Coast player to call it a day as far as International Football is concerned.
A couple of guys have left the scenes for Ivory Coast off late after the historic AFCON victory and it seems now the skipper Toure is also planning to follow the suit.
An announcement is being expected from Toure at some point of time this week.
Toure has been the best performing Ivory Coast Footballer by some distance in the recent times. He has been the captain of the team for the last 12 months or so, but, now, he reckons that the youngsters, who are sitting on the sidelines waiting for their chances, should come in and take the team forward.
Speaking to the reporters yesterday, Toure said, “I think the young players should be given a go now and should be persisted with.”
Toure is not that far away from completing his 100 appearances for his national side.
If he plays 5 more games, he would become the 4th Ivory Coast player to win a ton of international caps. But, it does not seem he is going to do so.
People close to him say that at this stage, when he is finding himself in the twilight of his career, he is looking to concentrate more on club Football.
Toure does not really have anything to look forward to in International Football now. He has done everything which a player aspire for, has featured in World Cups, has featured in AFCONs, has won a lot of games for his country and has captained as well. So, most of the dreams are fulfilled.
At Manchester City, Toure has a couple of years to go in his contract and he would be keen on finishing well there.
